Advisory
Economic intelligence platform for Dubai Government
1,100
Indicators, from 120 sources
Challenge
Dubai’s economic agenda required the department to monitor the economy across real estate, tourism, trade and investment, report on it regularly to leadership, and answer questions in days rather than quarters. The data existed across more than a hundred sources, in different formats and cadences, and the economic report was assembled by hand each cycle.
Approach
As project director I led the design and build of a macroeconomic reporting and analytics platform: eleven data models integrating more than 1,100 indicators from more than 120 sources, with automated ingestion, a common data layer, and interactive dashboards for each economic theme. Chart generation for the economic report was automated, so the report could be produced from the platform rather than assembled around it.
Outcome
Leadership reporting moved from manual assembly to a live platform. The department can produce the economic report from the data layer, answer ad hoc economic questions from the dashboards, and track the D33 agenda against current indicators.
